Try and include as many ways of making a payment as possible. Lots of people use and trust PayPal, so make sure that this is definitely there. Include direct bank transfer when possible. Similar to Trustmark’s are the payment icons. These are small images that show the user all the ways of making a payment. Make sure you include one of these on your site.

3. Who does not love a bargain?

With millions of websites to choose from, consumers usually only spend a few seconds to decide whether or not they like a particular site. Therefore, promotions, offers, deals and sales are a great way to spark attention in customers. Free shipping attracts many people. Other’s love promotions, massive discounts, deals and sales.  Make sure these are clearly visible on your homepage, and that your homepage is attractive.

4. Can anyone use your website?

Anyone should be able to use your website. Spend some time making your page user-friendly. Simplicity is always the best approach. Apple’s success is primarily due to the fact that their products are very intuitive and easy to use. Take the same approach with your online shop. Ensure navigation is smooth and intuitive, be sure to include a search bar, and do not use hard to read colours. Remember simple hits hard.

5. Learn from numbers

Using a free web analytics tool such as Google analytics can help you improve sales. Google analytics is free and easy to use. It provides insights on things such as which page your customers are visiting, how much time they are spending on each page, conversion rates, where are your customers coming from and much more. These numbers can help you make a better and informed decision regarding your website’s performance. Questions such as, “when is it a good time to release a new product”, can be better answered using web analytics.  Remember, numbers never lie.
